WELCOME

THE HERALD OF THE DAWN!

I rise to greet the early morn;
I am the herald of the dawn.
I am the first to greet each day
"Wake up you lazy folk, " I say!
I strut around , I am the best,
I am superior to the rest.

The hours of night  are meant to be
For healing sleep for you and me,
But last night I got no peace ,
The noise and bustle did not cease.
People running to and fro
Something wasn't right I know!
Screams and weeping filled the air,
Arguing and fighting everywhere.
I saw a man his robes stained red,
A ring of thorns stuck on his head.
Some were shouting taunts and jeers
Some were collapsed engulfed  in tears.

I see well-know faces everywhere,
But just who's that man over there?
I haven't seen him here before,
But of course, I can't be sure!
A woman isn't certain too,
She's asking him, "Just who are you ?"
He doesn't seem to want to say,
He's  turned around and walked away!
I think I'll follow just to see
Who ever this strange man might be  !

But no I can't, it will have to wait

The night is passing , it's too late,

My morning duty  time has come

I must ensure that it is done!

Another woman hails that man,

"Tell me your name if you can !"

Once again he's turned away,

"I don't know you," I hear him say.

A woman shouts, " Listen to me !

I think you are from Galilee!"

"I AM NOT !" I here him swear,

"and I don't know the prisoner over there !"

I raise my head and  twice I crow,

The dawn is here I let him know.

The prisoner turns to look his way,

"I warned  you  friend,"  he seems to say.

The stranger sinks down on the ground,

The crowd  turns silent, not a sound.

"Forgive me Master," his eyes pray,

He covers his head and crawls away.

I am the herald of the morn

I crowed twice to greet this dawn !

A simple cockerel  I might be,

But I'll go down in history!
